Comprehensive Assessment

Our comprehensive psychological assessment provides you with the information that you’ll need to make a well-informed decision about the steps you want to take in your therapy journey*.

During the assessment

Assessment appointments are 90 minutes long, during which your psychologist will ask about your personal history, current circumstances and hopes for the future, while also identifying problematic patterns or cycles within your life. From this, your psychologist will highlight target areas for possible therapeutic support.

Following the assessment

You will receive a comprehensive assessment report that will include:

  • A detailed summary of the discussion and key themes identified

  • Preliminary formulation – an explanation of the factors that may contribute to the development and maintenance of the problem that you are experiencing.

  • Therapeutic modality plan – a suggestion of which type of therapy might most effectively help you to reach your therapy goals (e.g. CBT, ACT, EMDR, NET, systemic therapy etc.)

Our assessments are standalone, meaning that there are no-strings-attached; although your psychologist will make helpful recommendations about how ABODE can support you, there is no obligation or expectation to continue pursuing therapy with us.

If you would like us to, we can keep your assessment on file so that you can dive straight into individual sessions or the therapy collection of your choice.

*Please note that diagnoses are not provided, and recommendations are suggestions for your information only. The report cannot be used for legal or medical evidence, and does not count as medical advice, nor should it be used in place of medical advice.
