Dr Lizzie Woodward

Dr Lizzie Woodward is a Clinical Psychologist who works in the NHS and and a co-founder of ABODE Therapy. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London. She has experience in working with people across the lifespan struggling with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She also has experience in working with children with autism and ADHD, and their parents. She is particularly experienced in working with people struggling with the effects of trauma from childhood or adulthood, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sleep problems.

Lizzie’s therapeutic work is informed by the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), narrative therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She is also trained in trauma-focused CBT and narrative exposure therapy (NET) for PTSD. She is a warm and compassionate therapist who works in a flexible and cooperative manner. She believes in thinking about what happened to you, rather than what is wrong with you.

Prior to clinical training, Lizzie completed her PhD in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on sleep and PTSD, and has been published in journals such as Behaviour Research and Therapy and the European Journal of Psychotraumatology. Lizzie is also a visiting lecturer at King’s College London.
